A near flawless 160 by Sachin Tendulkar and three early wickets in New Zealand’s second innings gave India total charge on the third day of the first Test on Friday.
At stumps New Zealand were 75/3, 166 runs short of wiping out an imposing 241-run deficit after India posted 520 in their first innings.
New Zealand made the worst possible start to the run chase when Tim McIntosh was given out three balls into the innings, caught at first slip by Tendulkar, in a questionable decision.

India were poised to set a substantial first innings lead over New Zealand when they ended the second day of the first Test on Thursday one run behind and with six wickets in hand.
Steady batting by India, restricted by New Zealand’s defensive approach and their own reluctance to take risks, led them to 278 for four at the close when bad light ended play six overs early.
With Sachin Tendulkar unbeaten on 70 and Yuvraj Singh on eight, and strong batting to follow, the way was clear for India to dominate the Test.

India had New Zealand on the mat at a precarious 60 for six but allowed the hosts to stage a remarkable recovery through fighting centuries by skipper Daniel Vettori and Jesse Ryder in the first Test on Wednesday.
Put into bat, the Kiwis suffered a dramatic top-order collapse in the first session before Vettori (118) and Ryder (102) steadied the ship with a defiant 186-run stand to take the Kiwis to a healthy 279 all out on the opening day.
Kiwi skipper Vettori led from front, notching up his third Test century, while Ryder curbed his natural stroke-play to struck his maiden Test hundred on an eventful day the Seddon Park stadium.

India are bolstered by a strong batting line-up. Virender Sehwag slaughtered the New Zealand attack in the One-dayers, Sachin Tendulkar has overcome the stomach strain that restricted his ODI appearances, and the injection of fellow legends Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman, gives the Indian side an ominous look.
The pressure is on New Zealand bowlers to perform and they will be looking for the pace in the wicket they enjoyed in Auckland on Saturday when they had their sole One-day success.
The New Zealand Test squad includes two newcomers, bowler Brent Arnel and One-day top order specialist Martin Guptill, while James Franklin and Chris Martin have been recalled.
Of the seven Test series between New Zealand and India played in New Zealand, India won the first in 1969 while New Zealand have since won four and two have been drawn.
Although the green tinge on the Seddon Park wicket will give the bowlers hope on the opening session the pitch should favour the batsmen for the remainder of the five days.

A confident India will look to continue their domination when they clash against New Zealand in the third One-dayer on Sunday, fully aware that the pressure will be more on the hosts who face a do-or-die battle.
Leading 1-0, a win on Sunday will ensure that India will not lose the series and they can push for the series-victory in the last two matches without a more relaxed approach.
But the two rain-marred matches at Napier and Wellington has not only upset the rhythm of the players to some extent, but has also put New Zealand in a tricky situation.

Shrugging off the T20 defeats, India on Tuesday bounced back with a solid batting display to spank New Zealand by 53 runs on the basis of DL method in the rain-marred first One-dayer and take 1-0 lead in the five-match series.
India rode on skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s unbeaten 84 and blasting half-centuries by Virender Sehwag (77) and Suresh Raina (66) to rattle up 273 for 4 in 38 overs and then put up a disciplined bowling performance to prevent the Kiwis from upstaging them.
Rain-interruptions added to the woes of New Zealand, who were forced to chase a stiff target of 216 from 28 overs when the drizzle halted play for the second time in the match. The Kiwis could manage just 162 for nine.

Indian Team hurted all Cricket lovers in twenty twenty series. After seeing 20-20 series we don’t see mixed performances, its something like 1 man army or 2 man army. Based on the 2nd T20 match Indian team still need to improve on the fielding. We would expect Indian team to change the batting strategy and line-up to get mixed results. But i am sure Dhoni will take necessary action to win ODI Series.
New Zealand Team is very confident on their play, since they are playing in home. NZ team shown tremendous performance in 20-20 series.
Give a big hand to Indian team to win the ODI Series.

World champions India will worry more about the fickle Kiwi weather than the composition and strength of Daniel Vettori’s team when they meet New Zealand in the first Twenty20 international at the AMI Park on Wednesday.
The advent of autumn has seen the temperatures drop and there have been sporadic spells of rain, which have offset India’s preparation for the match.
More than the Black Caps’ resilience and home advantage, it will be this cold-windy factor which could ruffle Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s all-conquering legion.
Given their streak of success in this format and the plethora of talent they have in their ranks, India start as hot favorites in the two-match Twenty20 series
