Sri Lanka v India, 1st Test, SSC, Colombo – Live Cricket Streaming – Day3
Malinda Warnapura, Mahela Jayawardene and Thilan Samaraweera all hit centuries as Sri Lanka took a stranglehold on the first Test against India.
Warnapura made 115, Jayawardene struck a fine 136 and Thilan Samaraweera was not out on 111 as the Sri Lankans closed the second day on 422 for four.Harbhajan Singh and Ishant Sharma picked up a wicket each, but they were few and far between as the hosts piled on the runs. India’s bowlers struggled throughout for consistent line and length and rarely put the opposition under any pressure.
It was not the first time the umpire referral system, being trialled in this series, was used.
India asked for a review of a lbw decision during the morning session, making it the first time the system was put to use. Harbhajan struck Warnapura on the pads with a delivery that pitched on middle stump and seemed to be going down leg. The appeal was turned down by referee Mark Benson, with Warnapura on 86, but Kumble challenged the decision and the umpire referred it to third umpire Rudi Koertzen, who endorsed Benson’s not out ruling.
Another leg before decision against Dilshan was referred to Koertzen, who again ruled in favour of the batsman after watching replays.
That means India have only one challenge left, while Sri Lanka have all three intact.

India captured two early wickets before opener Malinda Warnapura lit up a gloomy day by cracking a spotless unbeaten half century to take Sri Lanka to 85 for two on a rain truncated opening day of the first Test on Wednesday.
Only 22 overs were possible during the day after play started about four hours late due to rain and soggy ground conditions at the Sinhalese Sports Club ground.
The left handed Warnapura cracked an unbeaten 50 to notch up his third Test half century as the hosts played cautiously on a day which saw the honours being more or less shared by the teams.
Electing to bat, the hosts lost opener Michael Vandort (3) and Kumar Sangakkara (12) cheaply but Warnapura held the innings together with a solid effort. (Reuters Photo).

It’s been seven years since India’s last Test series here, but the settled nature of both teams means many of the leading role are the same. A couple of Indians who missed out in 2001 could have huge roles to play this time: Anil Kumble is the leader of the team and the bowling attack, while Sachin Tendulkar continues to be the key man in the middle order and is within touching distance of becoming the highest run-scorer in Test cricket.
The Indian Test team has been in form over the last couple of years but the task before them over the next three weeks is a huge one. Sri Lanka are a formidable team at home – since India’s last tour in 2001, the Sri Lankans have won 11 out of 14 series, losing only to Australia and Pakistan, and drawing a two-match series against New Zealand.

2nd npower Test South Africa vs England at Leeds – Day 3 Live Cricket Streaming
South Africa ends the day in control of the second test, 119 runs ahead of England’s total of 203 with six first-innings wickets in hand. Ashwell Prince has brought up a second century in as many tests, and in sharing an unbroken 179-run stand with de Villiers, the visitors are wrestling the game away from England. It has been a frustrating day for the home side, picking up only one wicket and not gaining too much assistance from the pitch.

Good comeback by South africa in the 2nd test between England and South Africa. Steyn and Morkel shared 8 wickets of England.England allout on 203 runs.
At the end of 1st day South Africa lost their 3 wickets on 101 runs. Hopefully we will see the result in this 2nd test match.

2nd npower Test South Africa vs England at Leeds – Day 1 Live Cricket Streaming
We have seen nice match between England vs South Africa. It was a big match. In one match they had 6 Centuries by both the teams.
Kevin Pietersen has been Amazingly quiet in the build-up to this series, but he didn’t miss the opportunity to make the strongest of statements on the opening day at Lord’s. In his first Test against the country of his birth and he put England in command, adding an unbeaten 192 with Ian Bell for the fourth wicket, following an opening stand of 114 by Alastair Cook and Andrew Strauss.
Ian Bell became the seventh batsman, and first English man, to fall for 199 in Tests, but the most commanding innings of his career covered England’s dominance at Lord’s as they piled up 593 for 8.
An outstanding collective effort from England’s attack take to pieces of South Africa for 247 on the third day and left them following on at Lord’s. Monty Panesar took the bowling honours with four wickets during a spell which highlighted his importance to the team in this series.
Hashim Amla’s fifth Test hundred guided South Africa safely to a draw on the fifth and final day at Lord’s. Two days ago, it seemed unlikely the visitors scrap it out into the fifth, yet it was England – the team who so dominated the first three days – who trudged off 75 minutes after tea. South Africa may not have won, but they will take heart from their naturally persistent performance with the second Test only four days away.

England’s attack responded to the growing competition for places by delivering their best performance of the summer to streng then their strangle hold over South Africa in the opening npower Test.
Facing South Africa’s experienced batting line-up, the home attack dismissed them for a lowly 247 – despite Ashwell Prince’s battling century – just a day after England had recorded a massive total of 593 for eight declared.
It was high-class bowling and enabled England to enforce the follow-on with South Africa still trailing by 346 at a Lord’s ground where they have triumphed on each of their three tours since re-admission to the international sporting community.
The tourists reached 13 without loss by the close of a compelling third day, but they looked a dispirited unit by stumps after England followed their domination with the bat with an equally impressive bowling effort.

Kevin Pietersen found inspiration from his fraught relationship with South Africa to deliver another Lord’s century and ensure England dominated the first day of the npower Test series.
Ever since Pietersen quit his homeland in protest at the quota system, which he believed was hinder ing his opportunities, to take his chances with England,
he has been a major target for the Proteas.
